A guide to hardcore modifications in 7 regions
1. Fog light position: penetration and safety warning
Yellow light (3000K) penetrating power, can effectively penetrate rain and fog.
Supplement the blind spot of the headlights, especially in the rugged road or low-speed driving at night to provide close-range lighting
Modification Points:
Prohibit the use of white light (6000K) to avoid scattering leading to blurred vision.
Need to be installed on both sides of the front bar, to avoid high reflective interference with the driver
2. Center mesh position: heat dissipation and auxiliary lighting
Part of the center mesh light can be matched with the air intake design to improve the engine cooling efficiency.
Add narrow-beam spotlights to enhance the concentration of forward illumination, suitable for jungle or desert exploration.
Modification points:
Match the center grille structure to avoid blocking the radiator grille or damaging the original wind resistance design.
Prefer aluminum alloy lamp holder to reduce the impact on the center of gravity of the car.
3. Front Bar Position: Combination of Main Lighting and Protection
Install a combination of light spotlights (spotlight + diffusion), taking into account the long-distance lighting and wide-angle coverage.
Modification points:
High-power spotlights need to be connected to a separate battery and equipped with a relay.
The length of the spotlight should not exceed the original bumper by 30cm to avoid annual inspection problems.
4. A-pillar position: fill light and blind spot elimination Add A-pillar spotlights to provide frontal/lateral fill light and reduce the blind spot of curves Yellow spotlight can penetrate sand or rain fog, improve side visibility Modification Points: Need to be tilted downward by 10°-15°, avoiding direct shooting at oncoming vehicles. Convenient for quick disassembly during annual inspection to avoid compliance risk
5. Roof Position: full coverage and long range search light Role: 40-50 inch LED Light Bar, covering more than 800+ range, suitable for desert, grassland and other open terrain Modification Points: Choose streamlined light frame to reduce wind noise and energy consumption
6. Roof side position: wide-angle fill light and safety warning
The side of the installation of diffusion lamps, illuminate the terrain around the wheels, to prevent the car from being trapped or cut off
Modification points:
Need to reach IP68, adapt to wading or muddy environment
7. Rear Position: Reversing Assist and Convoy Synergy
Rear bar with white reversing lights to improve night-time reversing vision.
Red rear
Fog Lights or strobe lights to mark the convoy position in sand or fog.
Modification Points:
Need to control with brake lights in separate lines to avoid false triggering
The angle of the light needs to be tilted downward to avoid direct shooting at the rear driver
Summarize: the core principles of modification
Independent circuit, color temperature and reasonable angle are indispensable.
According to the off-road environment (desert/jungle/rain and fog) to choose the lamp type and position
Additional lamps need to be filed with the DMV, and the quick-release design can cope with the annual inspection.
